OC Fair and Events Center 2018: Mark Your Calendar
April 27th, 2018
Hello Baker Block residents. Today we will be learning about one of our favorite places to have fun in Orange County. The OC Fair. Only five minutes away from Baker Block, you are able to support your local communities and attend the most unique of events in all of Orange County.
Just a little background on it all. It is a 150-acre event venue in Costa Mesa, California. The site hosts over 150 events attracting 4.3 million visitors annually. As far as the events go this year, there is so much to look forward to.
OC Fair Monthly Events
When it comes to the OC Fair, there are some events that happen annually as well as monthly. One event that you can count on happening each month is the food preservation workshops. Each month, instructor Pamela Wnuck teaches you how to preserve all sorts of foods. These events are held at Centennial Farm on Saturdays at 9:30 AM. On May 12th, she will be teaching you how to dill your own pickles the old-fashioned way. In June on the 9th you will learn how to make your own cherry chutney. These classes can fill up quickly so we recommend registering your spot early on. Also, know that there are materials you will need to bring yourself such as mason jars as well as a $25 fee.
Farmers Market
Then there are the farmer’s markets. These are also monthly events that happen at the Event Center. During April, they will have two different farmers markets. The first is on Thursday, April 12th from 9 AM to 1 PM in Lot D. The second is on the 19th on the same day, at the same time. In regards to admission and parking, it is all free.
Night Market
Do know that they like to shake things up and host their Night Market. These night markets feature 200+ foods, merchandise, crafts, arts, games, music, and entertainment attractions appropriate for all ages. The first night market will be in May, starting on Friday the 18th. It begins at 4 PM and goes until midnight. The event ends on Sunday and goes from 4 PM to 11 PM.
If you miss the one in May, no worries. They will also be hosting the night market in June from the 15th through the 17th as well as August 24th through 26th. General admission is $5 and parking is $8. Much like the Baker Block philosophy, these night markets are all about uniting and empowering the community by showcasing all the cool local artists, businesses, and entrepreneurs. So whip out your wallets and get ready to have a night filled with a whirlwind of fun. Lastly, for all you music junkies, take note that in July there will be loads of different music events.
As you can see, living in Costa Mesa at Baker Block gives you an opportunity to attend the best, most creative farmers market. Additionally, you are attending events that are supporting local vendors, artists, and businesses. Whether you need to stalk up on fresh fruits and vegetables, learn to preserve your own food, or attend fun comedy and music events, the OC Fair will help you out. That said, mark your calendars. As mentioned on their website, “there is something for everyone every day at the OC Fair and Event Center.”
