Top 5 Mexican Restaurants in Costa Mesa: Taco Edition

Hello neighbors! As you know, we have been enjoying delicious tacos with the best food truck in town, Tacos, Churros, and Wings. However, they only come on Tuesday’s. Here at Baker Block, we believe that every day should be taco day. That said, here are the top five best restaurants to enjoy tacos any day of the week in Costa Mesa, Orange County.

Taco Maria

Voted as the best restaurant of 2018 by the Los Angeles Times, chef Carlos Salgado at Taco Maria is serving you very creative and beautiful Mexican cuisine. For instance, there is the pork belly taco with blueberries on blue corn tortilla. Other decadent tacos on the menu includes the hanger steak and fish taco. The menu here is also incredibly eclectic. Take for instance their huevos pescador, king oyster quesadilla, and buttermilk pancakes.

Baja Fish Tacos

Up next is Baja Fish Tacos on 171 E. 17th St. Very affordable, Baja Fish Tacos is open from 10:30 AM to 9 PM and has the best baja fish tacos in town. Additionally, their shrimp baja bowl and carne asada are undeniable. Lastly, you cannot leave without trying their rice and pinto beans. They are heaven!

Mi Casa

Then there is Mi Casa on 296 E 17th Street. Now, here you will find a lot of variety in tacos. For instance, there is their crispy chicken and the shredded beef tacos. Also, they have the “cheesiest” dishes around. That especially goes for their loaded nachos. Additional, non-taco dishes we cannot get enough of are the cheese enchilada combo and carne asada fries.

Taco Asylum

We cannot go on talking about the best taco spots without mentioning Taco Asylum. Of them all, this Mexican restaurant is the closest to Baker Block on 2937 S. Bristol Street Ste B102. As far as their tacos are concerned, we love their blackened shrimp, the buffalo fried chicken, plus the Jamaican jerk chicken. Also, we highly suggest taking advantage of their Taco Tuesday Special. It includes $1 off tacos and beer, 3 different street tacos, and 1 pint of their Hop Cream Ale for $8.

La Canada Grill

Last but certainly not least is La Canada Grill. Here you will find incredible blackened fish tacos. As far as burritos are concerned, La Canada Grill has the best. That especially goes for the wet burrito with blackened fish.  

 

We honestly cannot TACo enough about tacos. Also, there is nothing wrong with making tacos with friends at your Baker Block apartment. Regardless, you can be sure that while living at Baker Block, the opportunity of indulging in the best tacos is endless.
