The Gypsy Den Cafe: Costa Mesa’s Hottest Spot for Brunch

February 16th, 2018

The LAB, one of the hottest spots in all of Costa Mesa. It is also our favorite place to enjoy life outside of Baker Block. Along with being home to treasures like Creme Tangerine and Facade Funhouse, The LAB is a home away from home for dozens of local artists and musicians. Additionally, The LAB houses some of the best restaurants in Costa Mesa, if not all of Orange County. Take for instance the Gypsy Den Cafe. Painted in a calming orange covered in ivory, this cafe is the number one spot for brunch at The LAB. Before we dive into their delectable menu, it is essential to discuss the decor.

Established in 1994, this all American restaurant is known for its cozy, Victorian, bohemian, aesthetic. As you approach the cafe you will notice that there is both indoor and outdoor seating. The patio area has small tables for two as well as large circular tables for a party of four. Once you walk inside, your eyes will feast on walls covered in tapestries and upcycled books that have been turned into lamps. There is even a wall entirely covered with old-fashioned paintings and macrame. For those of you looking to host small get-togethers, the Gypsy Den is a great place to do so. Best of all, they do catering! So once you discover all that their menu has to offer, definitely call in and have them cater any of your house parties.

The Gypsy Den Menu

As mentioned before, the Gypsy Den is an all American restaurant serving brunch, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. However, before it ever became a hot spot for brunch and lunch, it initially just served coffee. That said, feel free to order their irresistible Mayan Mocha. They also have an incredible Chai tea as well as traditional teas served loose leaf. In regards to brunch, lunch, and dinner there is so much to choose from. We personally cannot get enough of their Kale and Beet Salad. If you are looking to share, definitely get an order of their Street Style Tacos. For brunch, we highly recommend their Eggs Ole.

You can also count on the Gypsy Den when it comes to cocktails. Head on over after work for Wine Wednesdays or visit with the ladies on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM to 3 PM for their bottomless mimosas. You can enjoy all this and more any day of the week from 9 AM to 9 PM. No matter what you order, you can be sure that it will be both affordable and delicious.

There are endless amounts of restaurants at The LAB, but none of them are as relaxing and cozy as the Gypsy Den Cafe. Whether you are seeking brunch, a cozy space to take a coffee break or weekend mimosas with your friends, The Gypsy Den is ready for you to have a good time.
