Holiday Spotlight: How to Celebrate Christmas in the OC

Welcome to December, everyone! There is so much to look forward to this month at Baker Block and that includes all the marvelous Christmas extravaganzas happening this year.

 

Christmas Parades

Newport Beach

It is a tradition to gaze at homes decked out in all sorts of Christmas decor. Same goes for holiday street parades. However, we are near the water which means we get to see boats lit up for the holiday season. Take for instance the Newport Beach Harbor Parade. Arguably the most exciting holiday event in the OC, marvel at yachts, boats, and tiny dinghies glammed up in holiday lights. In fact, there are more the 100 watercrafts involved in this harbor parade.

The parade runs for five days in December. This year, it will start on Wednesday, December 19th and end on Sunday, December 23rd. Each parade begins at 6:30 PM. Do know that the opening night parade starts at 6:15 PM with a firework show. For anyone who wants to watch while dining, the best restaurants are along the PCH. Particularly the Rusty Pelican and Billy’s at the Beach.

Huntington Beach

The boat parades continue over in Huntington Beach as well. Specifically with their annual Huntington Beach Cruise of Lights. Unlike the Newport Harbor parade, you will be admiring homes that live along the water. What makes this such a special event is that the only way to enjoy this neighborhood is to take a cruise since these homes face the water. Even more beautiful, it is an incredible sight to see the sparkling homes in the reflection of the water. One quick tip, be sure to grab a bite before you go and dress very warm. There are only six days available to you to take this cruise. The first three are from December 14th through the 17th & the 20th through the 23rd. So get your tickets while you can and have fun! 

Christmas in Costa Mesa

There is also tons of holiday fun around the block from Baker Block! Get your holiday shopping going over at The Camp. This year, on Thursday, December 20th from 5 PM to 8 PM at The Studio, they are doing free gift wrapping along with snacks and beverages.
